BEHIND THE GLOW

Not just “partly cloudy.”

Cloudset looks for a reflecting canvas of middle and high clouds, a clear path toward the setting sun, limited low-cloud obstruction, useful aerosols, and no rain curtain. The sunset score overlay shows how good the show could look from each place. The cloud canvas overlay shows where the clouds that would light up are forecast to be.

What we keep

If you sign up for alerts, Cloudset stores your email address, the coordinates and name you chose, your alert settings, and a log of which alerts were sent. Nothing else. There are no accounts, no tracking scripts, and no ads.

Your last map position and overlay settings are saved in your own browser so the map opens where you left it. Unsubscribing removes you from all future emails immediately; you can also ask for your record to be deleted by replying to any alert.
